Ok…so I did! I am waiting for this moment for such a long time..and here is my first blog post.
Before I start telling you more, I would like to share with you a secret. This is not actually my first attempt at writing.
Almost 9 years ago, when I was still in Romania, I had a blog about stories, travel, food, photography, family, and friends. I run the blog for almost 3 years, but I had to close it down as I did not have enough time to focus on all my projects. And here I am now again.
I am starting this journey having my daughter as a mentor. We are learning together every day, but most of the time she is teaching me how to live simply in a complicated world. She is never tired of trying new things and telling me is ok to make mistakes, I have to try again until I succeed. I am very lucky to have such a great teacher.
Top the Cake was born last August but the idea has been sitting with me for a long time. I knew this is what I want to do, but was no one to tell me to do it. My first thoughts were why I did not think about it earlier, but soon I realized I have to focus on what to do next and how to help others who are facing same challenges I do. I was searching for good quality and fresh organic gluten free sweets and desserts, and as I did not find any, I decided to make them myself.
I want to inspire people and show them how great things they can do with passion and dedication. I know baking is not for everyone, but for my baking means experimenting, having fun and playing in my kitchen, tasting, creating, bonding with my roots and evoking childhood memories. For me, the kitchen is the center of the house, where everyone is gathering after a busy day and sharing wonderful memories together.
I am passionate about food and I learned to bake all by myself, reading books and watching videos, following mentors, food bloggers, chefs, trying and making mistakes, adapting recipes in my way. Actually, I never do a recipe twice same way (I know this drives nuts part of my family), but every single time is different. If I can bake, you can do as well 🙂 Everyone can bake!
My aim is to create delicious gluten free cake recipes that taste as good as a cake made with normal wheat flour. All my recipes are gluten free, easy and quick to make. Some are dairy free, sugar free, vegan or raw. I want to have lots of healthy guilt-free varieties for every taste and preference.
Top the Cake is a journal devoted to home baking, family, and slow food. It’s about finding that extraordinary in every day and enjoying delicious and healthy sweets and desserts with friends and family. Most of all it’s about savoring and sharing the beauty of every moment in life. Let’s not forget that food gathers people together and it reminds us of culture and traditions that bring warmth and joy to our hearts.
I hope you will enjoy my food stories and thank you for sharing with me this journey!
